In 2019 the hosts of the annual Sidewalk Film Festival opened the Sidewalk Film Center + Cinema in Birmingham, Alabama, making it the first and only brick-and-mortar theater dedicated to independent films in the city. The theater is located in the basement of the historic Pizitz building downtown. As part of the development, I was able to work with the theater’s owners to design the entry experience outside the main entrance to the theater leading from the lobby of the Pizitz down the stairs to the main doors. The project also included donor recognition signage across the cinema interior as well as some wayfinding and ADA room signage.
